Be Your Own Main Character
Ya’ll, this summer is flying by! I would love to know if you have anything fun trips still to do this summer or if you’ve already hit everything on your bucket list. For me, I have been using this Arizona heat to let it fuel my next chapter.
More balance, less automatic “yes”.
As we head into August, I am reminded of just how much we are in control of writing our own stories. There is nothing holding you back from writing yourself in as the hero.
So why not? Why not be everything you desire to be? Because I guarantee, right about now, you’re telling yourself…”Well, it just isn’t realistic because…..XYZ.”
GUESS WHAT, BABE?! It’s only unrealistic because of external factors. It’s not unrealistic to you because you’re writing the damn book.
Man, the heat is getting to me to friend, because I am amped about this reflection this week. The last several weeks, we’ve been working on this foundation of self-discipline and self-belief…so now what are we going to do with that?
Write the next chapter.
That’s what.
So grab your pen and paper. Your laptop. Your voice recorder on your phone. And get to work because you have a story to write.
If you get discouraged, fall back on what we’ve learned together….self-discipline to keep moving forward, and self-belief for the days you forget why you’re doing this.
And you’re here and doing this because who else will? Who else will bring all the goodness and magic that you have inside you out? Just you boo. Just you.
I hope you know, I’m here for you. I know emails are a weird space sometimes, but you’ve got a friend here if you ever need some extra support.
If this hit you in the heart this week and want to work through it a little deeper, here’s a journal prompt for you…
Weekly Journal Prompt: Where in your life have you told yourself something isn’t realistic, not because you believed that, but because someone or something else planted that belief?
Start by identifying one dream, desire, or version of yourself that you’ve labeled “unrealistic.”
Then ask yourself, whose voice is behind that limitation?
What would it look like to write a chapter where you do go after that thing, fully and unapologetically?
What kind of self-discipline will that version of you need to show up with?
What kind of self-belief will she need to hold, even on the hard days?
