Summer Solstice Reflections
I don’t know about you, but I can’t believe that we are already halfway through June….
Like what?! Where did time go??
And with the Summer Solstice coming up on Friday, I thought this would be a good place to check in.
It’s interesting because the word solstice literally means "sun standing still." It is derived from the Latin words Sol + sistere, meaning “Sun” + “standing still.” So while summer is often the busiest time for many of us with kids being out of school, vacations, and social events, where can you find a moment to be still?
Maybe right now? That is, after all, the purpose of these little messages.
At the risk of sounding a little “woo woo”, how’s your energy in your body? Does it feel chaotic? Maybe mellow? Maybe anxious? Try taking a minute to name how you’re feeling.
Next, check in with your goals. Are you where you thought you would be since the beginning of the year? What do you still want to accomplish?
I know for me, instead of adding more to my plate, I am in the process of feeling out what is still aligned and enjoying a slower season of life.
What I’ve noticed is that the seeds we planted at the beginning of the year are either well on their way to growing, or they didn’t take off like we had hoped. Either way, there’s a purpose behind it, so lean into that.
Maybe you’re being called to pour yourself into a new project. A project that’s been silently tugging on your heart’s sleeve, hoping that you will give it a chance.
Maybe it’s time to let something go. You’re allowed to grow and expand beyond the original boundaries you set for yourself. Or maybe you just blow those boundaries apart.
Close your eyes, and truly take a deep look.
What do you want the rest of this year to look like? What do you need more of? What can you let go of?
And maybe on Friday, be a little extra grateful for the sunshine on your face, as it signifies the longest day of the year and the halfway mark through summer. And next thing you know, we will be talking about fall. How crazy is that?!
I hope you have a wonderful week, and I hope this message finds its way to your heart. Sending a little extra love and warmth to you this week, for some reason, I feel like you might need it.
Until next week, my friends. ❤️
