Fostering True Creativity
First of all, let’s just get this out there. Seasonal colds SUCK. Just in case you were wondering.
As I’m typing this out, I am a sniffling and coughing mess. But I promised myself that I would continue to show here in the space that I’ve carved out. This time where I dig a little deeper to give you the space in your week to reflect and realign with yourself.
So get comfy. Ignore the texts, emails, and other tabs open on your computer because I know you have them, just like me. Take a moment to notice how your body feels. Everything from wiggling your toes to the tips of your fingers. Notice if you are holding any tension and let it go.
Take a deep breath.
Now take another one….
Now….let’s dig into creativity.
Did you know that your creative energy is housed on the left side of your body? This was a fun fact I’ve learned in my yoga journey. In fact, what’s more than that, that creativity is held within your feminine energy, which shockingly, is also held on the left side of your body.
When I say feminine, you can take the idea of genders out of it, because everyone has both feminine and masculine energy in them, and they both do different things. We will talk about masculine energy another day. ;)
So, how does this relate back to creativity? If you are out of tune with the feminine side of your body (physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally), then chances are, you will have a tough time harnessing your true creativity.
This might need to be a two-part email because understanding how we get out of touch is just as important as how we come back to that creative energy. I should also mention that there’s a difference between your true creativity, which stems from your true purpose, and forced creativity.
I don’t know about you, but for a long time (and still today), I have had this deep-rooted desire to sit down and create something meaningful. But I often feel like there’s a checklist of things I have to do before I am allowed to create that deeply meaningful “thing”. Or I need to be somewhere else, like on a retreat, or in a cabin in the woods. I’m not saying that doesn’t help, because it absolutely does, but what I’ve come to realize is that I can create that space right here in my body.
By tuning in. Listening to the subtle cues of what my body needs. And nurturing the side of me that’s a little more feminine.
“But Krysta, what does that even look like?”...I hear you…I do. First, let’s look at what the whole feminine energy holds. Below are just some examples, I am sure you could come up with plenty more…
Creativity
Nurturing
Receiving
Surrendering
Empathy
Flowing
Affection
Sharing
Patient
Intuitive
Slow
Sensitive
So now, you might have a better idea of where to focus your thoughts and own energy as you move through your day. It can be as simple as checking in with yourself. Making an intuitive decision. Sharing something. Showing affection.
These all go against the “hyper independent, have to be uber successful and hustling all the time” super women that we are expected to be. So…how will you tune in? How will you tap into that TRUE creative energy?
Have something on your heart you want to share? Always feel free to send me an email if you have something on your mind. This place was meant to connect us in new ways, and I hope I’ve done that with you today.
PS, let me know if you want a part 2 on this!
